Candlelight Christmas Night Tour 2025
It’s that time of year again when our home glows from the inside out and the world feels just a little bit gentler.

Every December, I wait for the sun to set, the house to quiet down, and all the soft lights and candles to come alive. There’s just something about Christmas at night, the flicker of flame, the twinkle of lights, the hush that settles over everything that makes me pause, breathe, and reflect on what truly matters.

I always say home is more than a place; it’s a feeling. And at Christmastime, that feeling is pure magic.
I’m continuing our usual tradition around here in sharing this year’s Candlelight Christmas Night Tour with you. Think of it as your virtual holiday stroll through our home after dark, no chatter, just cozy photos to scroll, sip-your-cocoa-by-the-fire moments, and a little peace for your busy season.

Entryway
This year’s entryway looks a little different than usual and not by choice.

Just days before I photographed this tour, we had a pipe burst that led to full-on water mitigation in our foyer (the kind that turns your home upside down overnight). Because of that, I don’t have as much of the entryway to share after dark as I normally would.
But thankfully, I managed to capture two photos of our foyer lit up at night before the chaos began and I’m so glad I did.

Beauty can exist even when things aren’t quite finished or perfect. And honestly, that feels fitting for this season.
Dining Room
Step a little further and the dining room tree stands tall and twinkling.

I’m so thrilled with how our DIY tree stand planter turned out in here. This room reads almost like a painting in the dark: deep greens, soft whites, and warm amber light against the landscape mural.

Switching from candles to rechargeable lamps was definitely a good decision in here.

The media room is one of the most sentimental spaces in our home at Christmastime especially at night.

I kept the mantel simple but layered, with asymmetrical garland, soft fairy lights, and lots of candles flickering in front of the mantel mirror above the fireplace. Once the lights go down, everything reflects and doubles, and the whole room takes on this warm, golden glow that feels especially cozy.

Our Christmas tree in here might be my favorite of all, not because it’s perfectly styled, but because it’s filled with a lifetime of memories. Every ornament has a story, from pieces Robert and I hung on our childhood trees to handmade ornaments from the girls, and newer ones collected as travel mementos along the way. It’s a timeline of our family, quietly glowing after dark.

On the hearth, I always place my wooden shoes alongside my brother’s, a gift our grandfather brought us back from Holland when we were little. It’s a small detail, but one that means so much, especially this time of year now that he’s no longer with us.

And beneath the tree, you’ll usually find a scattering of Christmas storybooks, ready for cozy evenings reading together with our girls. This room is all about tradition, memory, and making space for moments that feel slow and meaningful.

Primary Bedroom
Our primary bedroom was practically asking to be dressed up for Christmas this year.
We recently painted the walls a deep, moody green (Benjamin Moore Vintage Vogue), and once the lights go down, the color wraps the room in the coziest, most calming glow. Seriously, it feels like a warm hug in here. It didn’t need much to feel festive, just a few simple layers.

I added a single strand of garland along the headboard, a couple of vases filled with winter greenery, and some lighted branches on the dresser for a soft, twinkling touch.
But truly, the magic in this room comes from the lamps. That warm, low lighting against the dark walls creates the kind of peaceful atmosphere that makes you want to linger a little longer.

It’s a quiet kind of Christmas in here, simple, cozy, and calm, which feels especially welcome at the end of the day during a busy season.

Living Room
This year, we painted the mantel a deep navy (Benjamin Moore Temptation), and added tongue-and-groove planks to the ceiling, which instantly gave the room a richer, more luxurious feel. At night, those updates really come to life.
The darker tones ground the space, while the candlelight and twinkle lights soften everything around them.

I also pulled several of my grandmother’s silver pieces out of storage and finally gave them a good polish. Seeing them displayed again has been such a joy. The way the candlelight reflects off the silver adds the prettiest effect to the room. It feels like having a little piece of her with us this season.

With the Christmas tree lit, the fireplace flickering, and the room bathed in soft light, this is where the house feels its most comforting as we settle in for a movie night. It’s the place we gather, unwind, and linger, and at night, it truly feels like the heart of our home.

As I walk through our home by candlelight each year, I’m reminded that Christmas was never meant to be loud or hurried. It was meant to be quiet, holy, and full of hope. A single light breaking through the darkness, the Light of the World to dwell with us.
My hope is that this candlelight tour feels like a small pause in your season. A reminder to slow down, rest your heart, and make room for what matters most. From our home to yours, may your nights be peaceful and your Christmas be filled with His presence.
